We interviewed several 5th Grade girls about math and computers. We found out that they are different in many ways even though they share one common thing, they all like math. Here's what they had to say:
Kaley really likes math. She says "math is important because you need to know it for the jobs we do". She thinks games are "fun because they make it easier to learn". She likes to shop and play on the computer. When she grows up she wants to design clothes.

Caitlin says that math is fun and that when you grow up you will use it. She likes horses, volleyball and playing with friends. She wants to work at the Humane Society.

Brandy likes math and even "thinks it's sometimes easy". "You'll use math your whole life", she says. She likes to draw and play with her friends. She wants to be a teacher when she's older.

Another girl says she likes math because "you need to know it for jobs and at home to pay bills". She likes broccoli, shopping, computers, playing with friends and reading. She also wants to design clothes.

Tyann feels good about math and says that if you don't know math you can't do lots of jobs. She plays volleyball and wants to be an actress when she grows up.

One girl also feels good about math because "it opens doors in the future". She likes ice skating and wants to be a veterinarian.

Amber thinks math is important "because it gives us more to learn when we grow up". She plays kick ball, likes art and is a gymnast. A teacher is what she wants to be.

Amy feels that math is good and we couldn't do a lot of jobs without it. Her teacher makes math fun by playing games like "Math Quest and making jokes". She likes to go on bike rides with her friends. She also wants to be a vet.

Another friend, whose parents are from Iran, also enjoys math. She says that if you don't know anything about math, you don't know how to do many everyday things. She likes to play foursquare and wants to be a teacher herself someday.

Lindsay says she thinks math is important "because we use it everyday". She plays the violin and the computer. Designing clothes is what she wants to do.

Our last interviewee thinks math is "great". Math is an important part of a good education. She likes to get exercise and wants to be a litigator (a kind of lawyer).

Many of the girls agree that games, like Math Quest, make math easier to learn by making learning more fun.
