Spring 2005 |
Scott won two teaching awards this spring from Saint Louis University, one from student government and another from the Dean's office. Here he is receiving the award from the Dean's office (where they accidently introduced him as Dr. Scott!).

At the awards ceremony Scott also presented the award for the outstanding senior in sociology.

Jenine has officially made it through her first year as a doctoral student (whew!). She and her fellow student Ryan were selected to represent Saint Louis University at a national public health conference in New Orleans this fall with their poster presentation on the riveting topic of reliability. Here they are at the SLU student symposium with the poster.

In April, Scott organized a session at a sociology conference in beautiful Minneapolis. We took a tour of some of the parks and neighborhoods in the area.

Karen found time to meet us and her friend Donna (and a whole bunch of Elvises...Elvii...hunks of burning love...) in Minneapolis. We spent the evening with them at Mall of America for the Contest of Kings...

Karen even surprised Scott with a visit from one of his good childhood friends, Dean, and Dean's son, Chris.

In Minneapolis we also visited some U of Oregon college buddies, Craig and Kristen, along with their clan, Bjorn and Anders. We all ate breakfast a cool spot downtown called Hell's Kitchen, which we recommend highly if you're ever in Minneapolis.

In May, Jenine's brother Ben came to visit and see a one man play entitled MacHomer -- a rendition of Shakespeare's MacBeth entirely in voices from the Simpsons. The play was....unique... We also spent some time running around St. Louis and Ben made some new friends at the St. Louis zoo.
